Frequently Asked Questions

How do I RSVP?

Please RSVP using the button on the right top corner of this website, or by clicking here.

Where can I stay / is there a room block?

The wedding venue itself does not include accommodation. Please refer to our Hotels page for info on our room block and recommended stays.

While we would absolutely love if everyone could stay nearby in the same hotel complex, we understand there can be barriers — your presence in any way is truly what matters most to us! Feel free to browse any hotels that you’d like to stay at.

Don’t hesitate to reach out to us OR to our wedding planners, Ola Wedding Designers, if you have any questions about hotels, location, wedding-related events, etc. Their contact is info@olaweddingdesigners.com.

Are children allowed?

As much as we love your kiddos and babies, we kindly ask that you join us without your children so everyone can relax and enjoy the celebration to the fullest. If bringing your child or baby is necessary, please let us know in advance — we’ll do our best to accommodate.

Can I bring a plus one?

Yes, but please let us know in advance (if you haven’t yet) so we can accommodate!

What’s the dress code for the wedding?

Formal / cocktail attire, please! For inspiration or help, please click here.

Women:

  • Please avoid mini dresses as this is a formal event; aim for midi or maxi length

  • Have fun and wear colorful or floral dresses to match the beach / summer vibes, if you'd like!

  • Please do not wear a white dress or any shade too light that appears white on camera

Men:

  • Please wear closed toe shoes

  • Please do not wear shorts as it is a formal event

Is transportation provided to the wedding venue, Villa La Joya?

If you are staying at the Iberostar hotel complex, we will be providing buses to the wedding venue and back to the hotel. More info to come closer to the date :)

If you are not staying in the same hotel complex, we do ask that you find your own transportation. Keep in mind possible travel times (the venue is about 1 hour from Cancun’s hotel zone).

When should I arrive?

To Cancun / Riviera Maya, we recommend booking your flights to arrive at least 1 - 2 days prior to the wedding date (May 2, 2026) to acclimate yourself and enjoy some sun / vacation.

As for the wedding day, we will provide more information on location and time for the shuttles. If you plan to find your own transportation, please plan to arrive at Villa La Joya at least 30 minutes in advance (around 4 PM).

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

The wedding is entirely OUTDOORS. Come ready for tropical weather, but it will be breezy and mostly during sunset / nighttime. If it rains, we will have a large tent, but let’s all manifest a beautiful, clear, and sunny day! May is warm and tropical, with average temps in the 80s to 90s°F (low to mid 30s°C).

Are there activities to do nearby?

Absolutely! The Riviera Maya is full of beautiful locations, cenotes, beaches, ruins, amazing food. Check our Exploring section for ideas outside of lounging in the hotel pool / beach.

Will you be hosting other events during the trip?

TBD!

Can I drink tap water?

NO! Tap water is only safe for showering or washing your hands. Do NOT drink or brush your teeth with tap water, use bottled water instead. Keep this in mind when ordering iced drinks as well. Most hotels and resorts provide bottled water if needed.
